Elliott raises Akzo stake to be biggest investor

Activist investor Elliott Advisors has upped its stake in Akzonobel by at least 5pc, making it Akzo’s largest shareholder, a month after losing its legal bid to oust the paint giant’s chairman. Elliott had been seeking the dismissal of Antony Burgmans after Akzo rejected takeover bids from US rival PPG Industries.
