Murder arrest after man is killed by tram

A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was killed by a tram.

Police were called to reports of a man being struck by a tram at Manchester Victoria station shortly after 7.50pm on Sunday. Emergency services attended but he died at the scene.

A 31-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody for questioning.

Stephen Rhodes, Transport for Greater Manchester customer director, said he was “absolutely devastated” to hear of the death and his thoughts were with the man’s family and friends.
