Judge wanted to jail killer driver for longer

-

A judge has complained that he could not give a longer jail sentence to a man who killed a mother after crashing his tractor into her car because under the law his hands were tied.

Henry Bett, 28, was found guilty of causing the death in 2013 in Norfolk of Rebecca Brown by dangerous driving.

After a retrial, Judge Sean Enright said he had wanted to jail Bett for 44 months, but the law prevented him from imposing a sentence greater than the original three and a half years. He jailed Bett for 42 months.
