Boys’ play, girls’ play
SIR – You report (June 2) that Lego has been accused of gender bias.
I have been studying the approaches of a grandson and granddaughter as they play (with equal enthusiasm) with the Lego collection of their fathers.
The boy builds fortresses, with dungeons in which to place prisoners. The girl constructs family homes in which the inhabitants prepare food and change clothes and hairstyles with amazing frequency. It is not the fault of the manufacturers that boys and girls perceive things so differently.
