President Donald Trump last night formally nominated Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets American football team, as US ambassador to Britain. Mr Johnson, 70, will need Senate approval before he can take up the key post. Mr Trump had said in January that the billionaire was “going to [the Court of ] St James’s”.
