Beauty Pie Ten Best Smoky Eye Palette, £6.85 for members
If you haven’t already signed up to Beauty Pie – and a year in, 10,000 have, including one Bobbi Brown – perhaps this will prove irresistible bait. The love child of Marcia Kilgore (founder of
Bliss, Fitflops, Soap &
Glory: she has form), Beauty Pie charges members £10 a month and then allows them to buy fancy beauty products at cost price. Skincare is produced in Switzerland, the rest comes from South Korea, France, and in the case of this dashboard of velvety powders, Italy. The snag, for those who set enormous store by famous brand names, is that all potions and paints sell under the Beauty Pie label, so while you may suspect that you’ve just snagged a bargain that’s uncannily similar to something you paid six times as much for, you won’t know exactly who made it. On the other hand, that means you’re thrown back on your own judgment. It could make us all more discerning consumers. These are composed of mineral pigments, deliver long-lasting colour and generally look the business. Non-members can also buy, but they’ll pay £35.
If you’re a heavy user, joining up makes sense.
