Acid attack causes ‘life-changing’ burns

A student and her cousin were left with “life-changing” burns when acid was thrown through the windows of their car as they celebrated her 21st birthday.

Resham Khan and Jameel Muhktar both suffered severe burns to their face and bodies in the attack on Wednesday. Mr Muhktar, 37, had to be placed in an induced coma. Miss Khan said the pain was “excruciating”.

The cousins had been inside a car at traffic lights in Beckton, east London.

Police are investigating.
