Casting doubts

SIR – It is not only middle-aged men who are concerned about a female lead on Doctor Who (Features, July 18).

My 15-year-old granddaughter was appalled when she heard the news. “It’s not that I have anything against women,” she said, “but it’s wrong.

The Doctor should be a man.”

I disagree. I can’t wait to see Jodie Whittaker brandishing the sonic screwdriver and saving the universe. Anne Shimwell
