Accessories maketh the summer

-

Summer dressing circa 2017 is all about looking as though you’re bathed in a pre/post-holiday glow. Hard enough to sustain over three months. Really quite challenging when you can’t rely on a daily temperature of 28 degrees and you’re 10 weeks either side of any time off. The solution – you’re welcome

– is the pre/post-holiday detail.

I’m not talking about smug twists of friendship bracelet or the flaky bits of skin that come with any beach vacation. But something that subtly hints at a carefree sunshine-y lifestyle, even when you’re slogging in the office and contemplating pulling on your ankle boots. Cue a stripy watch-strap (make sure it’s one that’s easy to interchange with your others), a hat that won’t embarrass you in town (these are made in the UK in a range of juicy colours and chic patterns) and a sweet earring that looks both slightly off kilter and glamorous.
