Bottles thrown at police during death protest

Protesters angry at the death of a man following a police chase barricaded a London road, set fire to bins and threw bottles at officers.

Crowds had gathered in Kingsland Road, Hackney, yesterday in response to the death of Rashan Charles, 20.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating the events leading to his death last weekend.

Unverified footage on social media appeared to show at least one police officer attempting to restrain him on the floor of a shop, close to where the protest was held.
