Warn­ing over Fid­get spin­ners that can cut

Fid­get spin­ners sharp enough to punc­ture the skin have been dis­cov­ered on sale in the UK, prompt­ing fears that the new craze could lead to in­juries among chil­dren.

The gad­gets have be­come pop­u­lar with young­sters and were found to be read­ily avail­able to pur­chase on ebay.

The palm-sized spin­ners con­sist of a ball bear­ing that sits in a three­p­ronged plas­tic de­vice that can be flicked and spun.

Some of the de­signs on sale in the UK have raised safety fears, with a num­ber fail­ing tests af­ter they were found to be ca­pa­ble of dam­ag­ing eyes and punc­tur­ing the skin.
