Belgian king’s tweeting brother faces pay cut
The brother of the Belgian king faces having his £208,000 salary cut after Twitter exposed his flouting of a ban on meeting foreign dignitaries without government permission.
Prince Laurent attended a 90th anniversary party for the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army at Beijing’s embassy in Brussels and tweeted photos of the event.
Laurent insisted he was not at the embassy on business but on “a personal invitation”, but the conservative Flemish N-VA party is demanding Laurent be punished.
