Rosneft hires German minister

Rosneft, the Russian state-owned oil company, has nominated Germany’s former chancellor Gerhard Schröder to serve on its board as an independent director.

Mr Schröder is also the chairman of Nord Stream, the Baltic gas pipeline that is 51pc controlled by Russia’s state-owned Gazprom.
