Vicious streak Creatures that defend their territory

Giant pandas do occasionally turn angry. In October last year Mei Ling, a 19 stone male, took exception to a man coming into his enclosure in Nanchang City, China, and pounced on him, dragging him to the ground. The man eventually broke free.

Perhaps the most notorious panda in captivity is Gu Gu, who lives in Beijing Zoo. Gu Gu has attacked intruders in 2006, 2007 and 2009.
