Marketing costs push JD to loss
China’s largest retailer, Jd.com, swung to a net loss in the second quarter of 2017, from a profit a year earlier, after it spent more on its online direct sales business, on building its logistics network up and on marketing. Jd.com posted a 44pc rise in revenue for the three months to June 30, but reported a net loss of Rmb287m (£33.4m).
