Purple hue named for late singer Prince

-

A shade of purple has been named for the late musican Prince.

The hue created by the Pantone Color Institute has been named Love Symbol #2, and matches the custommade Yamaha piano he was due to tour with before his death by opioid overdose, age 57, in April 2016.

It references the symbol he began using as his name in 1993 during a battle with Warner Bros Records over ownership of some of his biggest hits.

The Purple Rain singer switched back to Prince in 2000 after his Warner contract expired.
