Flight compensation

-

SIR – I travelled to Lyon with a budget airline. The return ticket cost £90. The return flight was delayed over four hours, due to a problem caused by the airline. There was much grumbling and acrimony with the local staff.

On my return, I claimed for compensation, using the airline’s standard form, and was pleasantly surprised to receive several hundred pounds in compensation, which was in accordance with their legal obligation.

The flight had been full, and I was interested to know how many other passengers had claimed. It took a Freedom of Information request to find that only two others had bothered to claim, out of 130 passengers.
