Fans need to have a reality check about this fantasy series

-

Game of Thrones fans, of which I am one, have been complaining about the latest season of the show, which comes to an end tomorrow night. The series has long been known for plodding along at a ponderous pace, with the murder of a pivotal character thrown in for good measure every few episodes. By contrast, the seventh season has moved at speeds only witnessed in fighter jets. Things that have previously taken eight episodes are being carried out in the time it takes to make a cup of tea during the ad break. All of which has led to complaints on social media about how “unrealistic” the show has become.

For the record, Game of Thrones features at its heart zombies, dragons and a man brought back to life by an elderly woman who gives birth to murderous shadows. Call me a party pooper, but I’m not sure realism has ever been its great selling point.
