Polish tourist boss fired over Auschwitz remarks
The head of Poland’s national tourism organisation has been fired after he said he wanted to remove Auschwitz from tours for foreign journalists.
Witold Banka, Poland’s tourism minister, said he was dismissing Marek Olszewski over “scandalous remarks” made in the Gazeta Wyborcza daily. The newspaper quoted Olszewski as saying he had “no need to show places and events relating to the history of other nations.”
