Froome seals historic La Vuelta victory

Chris Froome, the British four-time winner of the Tour de France, cemented his position in cycling’s hall of fame further yesterday when he won La Vuelta, Spain’s grand tour.

The Team Sky rider has become the first man to win the Tour and the Vuelta in the same year since 1978.

Not only that, Froome is Britain’s first ever winner of the Vuelta, and the first Briton to win a grand tour other than the Tour de France. Sport: Pages 14-15
