Gunman in wheelchair kills Red Cross worker
A Spanish physiotherapist working for the Red Cross in northern Afghanistan was shot and killed yesterday by a wheelchair-bound patient, in the latest attack on the international charity.
Lorena Enebral Perez, 38, was shot at a rehabilitation centre in Mazar-isharif, where she treated disabled children and adults, including amputees, the Red Cross said in a statement. Two people have been arrested, including the 21-year-old gunman, a “regular patient”.
