In a lather

SIR – I, too, dread the demise of bar soap (Letters, September 13) as for the last 70 or so years I have washed my face every morning with a good lather of Palmolive soap.

I feel it has kept excessive wrinkles at bay without the need for expensive face creams. At least, I thought so until a young granddaughter asked: “What are those lines on your face, Granny?”

SIR – One of the most useless products must be liquid soap for use in showers. Before the soap can arrive at your body, it has all been washed away.

If God had meant us to use shower gel, he wouldn’t have allowed us to invent soap dishes.
