Bake Off fridge stunt draws frosty response

Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off has been reported to the media watchdog over a prank in which Noel Fielding was shut inside a fridge.

In this week’s episode of the Channel 4 show, Sandi Toksvig opened a fridge to reveal Fielding. She then appeared to close the door.

Dozens of viewers contacted Ofcom to complain that children could copy the “irresponsible” stunt.

Online, parents condemned the scene. “My daughter loves Bake Off. I’ve just had to explain why she should never climb in a fridge!” wrote one.

Research from overnights.tv, the media analysts, found that 14 per cent of Bake Off ’s audience is between four and 15. Ofcom confirmed that it had received 24 complaints and will decide whether to launch an inquiry.
