Soldier survives Paris knife attack

A man with a knife tried to attack a soldier on patrol as part of the anti-terrorism operation in Paris yesterday.

The soldier was not hurt when the attacker lunged at him at the central Chatelet metro station, one of the busiest transport hubs in the French capital, at around 6.30am local time.

Police said the attacker, who made reference to Allah, was quickly brought under control.
