Trolls who abuse MPS could lose the vote
♦ Social media trolls could be banned from voting in future, under tough new measures outlined by the elections watchdog to crack down on the abuse of politicians.
The Electoral Commission said the introduction of new measures – including the removal of the right to vote – should be considered by the Government to bring election laws up to date and to reduce the wave of abuse faced by candidates online.
The recommendation came as a BBC survey showed that almost 90 per cent of MPS were exposed to abuse during the 2017 general election.
