The value of marriage
SIR – The Government’s proposals to impose relationship education on young children (Letters, October 10) is another step towards marginalising aspects of natural family life.
Of course minorities need to be considered and valued. The problem, however, is that traditional marriage, which has provided stable development to millions of children over the years, is in danger of becoming the minority choice. It needs to be considered and valued.
The overwhelming majority of people in this country are tolerant, understanding and compassionate. Our education system should recognise this, as well as the true value of traditional marriage. Kevin Sheard

SIR – Correspondents claim that relationship education will introduce “concepts” of homosexuality and transgenderism to children at an age where they cannot be critically assessed.
I would imagine that having the best interests of a child at heart requires preparing them for a world in which they will meet all sorts of people, and can approach them all without preconceptions. James Hunt
