Weaseling out
Visitors to a riverside park in Peterborough witnessed the amazing sight of a heron trying to swallow a weasel, but the small mammal managed to free itself from the bird’s beak and ran away. The images were captured by Lesley Allen, 62, a retired pharmacy dispenser from Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, who is now a keen wildlife photographer. He told the Mail Online: “The heron appeared with the weasel on the opposite bank of the River Nene. It wriggled and struggled for almost four minutes, then it finally managed to escape and ran off squealing, pursued by the heron.”
