Car and lorry involved in bonfire girl’s death

A teenage girl who was killed while walking back from bonfire celebratio­ns may have been struck by two vehicles, a lorry and a car, police have said.

The 17-year-old, from Uckfield, East Sussex, who had been at the bonfire event in East Hoathly, died on the A22 nearby, Sussex Police said. She was declared dead at the scene of the accident, which took place at 9.18pm on Saturday.

Sergeant Dan Pitcher said: “The girl may have been in collision with two vehicles, a Scania lorry and a Vauxhall Insignia, and we are now appealing for witnesses.”
