Drag racer, 8, dies after hitting wall

Junior drag racing has been suspended in Western Australia after a girl of eight died following a 200m practice run in Perth.

Anita Board died in hospital the day after crashing into a concrete barrier on Saturday. Her speed is not yet publicly known, but the racer was capable of reaching 60mph.

Her devastated father, Ian, said her death was a “one in a million event”.
