Parents protest over Zoella’s ‘tatty’£50 advent calendar

- By Katie Morley

ZOELLA, the Youtube star, has been criticised over an advent calendar which costs £50 and only has 12 doors.

Parents condemned the beauty vlogger’s calendar as “tat” and “massively overpriced”, leading to Boots reducing its price to just £25.

The calendar contains a bauble, a small packet of confetti, a cookie cutter, seven stickers, a small bag, a 130g “Festive Cookie” candle, a 30ml “Christmas Clementine” room spray, a pen, a fluffy key ring, a gingerbread man-shaped cookie cutter, a notepad and a 130g “Cozy Christmas” candle.

One review of the calendar read: “Definitely not worth the money and very disappointing items within.” Another said: “Parents do not buy! This calendar is worth £20 maximum. I am a huge fan of Zoella, however she has made a huge mistake with this.”

Zoe Sugg, who is behind the brand, is a Youtube sensation whose vlog has more than 11million subscribers.

A Boots spokesman said: “We are sorry to hear that the price has disappointed a number of customers. We will be offering the product at half price during our Christmas promotion ... for £25 from Thursday Nov 16.”
