Value of engineers

SIR – It is enormously pleasing to see your Careers in Engineering supplement (November 22), which highlights the opportunities that are available in various engineering disciplines.

We need more people like Sir James Dyson to extol and promote the virtues of such a noble and socially beneficial career.

Britain was the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution; without engineers, we would not have the world that we enjoy today.
