Next boss ‘stabbed to death by ex-wife in revenge attack’
A British businessman was stabbed to death by his vengeful ex-wife when she confronted him and his new girlfriend, an inquest heard.
Michael Simpson, 34, a manager for Next from Wimborne, Dorset, was stabbed by Wei-wei Fu, his ex-wife, during a row in his apartment in Shanghai. The mother of his two children then slashed his partner Rachel Lin’s arms “to the bone”, leaving her in a critical condition, the court heard. Fu goes on trial next Monday in China for murder.
The inquest was told that his parents were locked in a legal battle to win custody of their grandchildren, Jack, seven, and Alice, four, who have lived with Fu’s family since his death.
Richard Middleton, the Dorset assistant coroner, recorded a verdict of “unlawful death”.
