End puppy farming

SIR – The only way the appalling trade in illegally smuggled puppies will cease (report, November 24) is if the public stops buying puppies off the internet.

The vast majority of puppies bought online come indirectly from puppy farms. The terrible conditions and the suffering caused by this trade must end. We must make it happen, either by buying from a reputable breeder or, preferably, from a rescue centre. Freda Gittos
