Protests over outgoing university chief ’s pay

Protests have been held by students at the University of Bath over the retirement of their vice-chancellor.

Hundreds marched in protest over plans to allow Prof Dame Glynis Breakwell to remain on full salary until formally leaving in February 2019.

Dame Glynis announced her resignatio­n on Wednesday after a row about her salary of £468,000.

Slogans carried read: “Education not remunerati­on” and “Biscuits don’t grow on trees”, a reference to a reported expense claim made by Dame Glynis for a £2 pack of biscuits.
