Austrian smoking ban scrapped

A smoking ban due to come into effect in Austria’s restaurants and bars next year has been scrapped after coalition talks between the far-right Freedom Party (FPOE) and the conservative People’s Party.

Heinz-christian Strache, the FPOE leader, said: “The freedom to choose lives on. The existence of restaurants has been secured.”
