Driver who crashed on US base is not terrorist

-

A man alleged to have forced his vehicle into a US Air Force base in a major security breach reportedly had a teddy bear strapped to him. He has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

US military guards opened fire on the man, but he was able to drive hundreds of yards from the main checkpoint at RAF Mildenhall to the flight line before he was stopped.

Video footage of the aftermath of the incident appeared to show his vehicle reached within feet of a US military V-22 Opsrey aircraft.

The incident is not being treated as terrorism. The man was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass and criminal damage.
