Hit-and-run suspect arrested after charity fundraiser death
♦ A suspected hit-and-run driver has been arrested over the death of a motherof-two who was run down by a car being chased by police on Boxing Day.
Damien Raeburn, 31, is in police custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Susan Shaw, 47, was hit by a blue Vauxhall Corsa on High Street in Rishton, near Blackburn, at 5.50pm on December 26. Mrs Shaw, a charity fundraiser, suffered catastrophic injuries and died at the scene.
The Vauxhall failed to stop but was recovered by police a short distance away.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed.
Detective Superintendent Jill Johnston, of Lancashire Police, said: “These are such tragic circumstances and our thoughts remain with Mrs Shaw’s family and friends at this sad and very difficult time.
“Officers have arrested a man in connection with the investigation and he will be questioned in due course.”
