 The naturalist Steve Backshall interviews remarkable Swiss explorer Sarah Marquis, who has completed some astounding expedition­s. In 2015, she spent three months walking across the Kimberley region of Western Australia, alone. There she endured extreme temperatur­es as well as severe hunger, thirst and danger from exposure and aggressive wildlife as she attempted an Aboriginal walkabout, which entails fishing, foraging and gathering food from the wild. Humphries tells stories of growing up in Melbourne in the Thirties and Forties and shares songs that give a glimpse of social history. Along with Humphries’s characterf­ul commentary, some of the song selections included are Rudy Vallee’s 1931 version of Brother Can You Spare a Dime?, Dick Bentley’s Are You Having Fun?, and My Wife’s on a Diet, performed by Jack Hylton and His Band with Leslie Sarony.
