Americans killed in Taliban attack on hotel

US citizens were among the dead and wounded in the attack by Taliban gunmen on a Kabul hotel at the weekend, the State Department has confirmed.

At least 22 people were killed at the Intercontinental Hotel as terrorists went from room to room looking for guests to kill. Afghan officials say at least 14 foreigners were killed, and Ukraine’s ambassador confirmed at least seven of these were Ukrainians.

A German, a Kazakh and two Venezuelans have also been reported to be among the fatalities.
