Five French soldiers die as helicopter­s collide

Five people were killed yesterday after two army training Gazelle helicopter­s crashed into each other in southern France, police said.

The collision took place at around 8.30am local time yesterday near Carcès lake, 30 miles north-west of the resort of Saint-tropez.

“The helicopter­s collided. There were three army personnel in one and two in the other. All are dead,” police said. Rescuers at the thickly-wooded crash site have recovered the bodies.
