Eye on the ball
SIR – Crows aren’t the only creatures to show an interest in golf balls (Letters, February 1).
Once, when I was walking through the sand dunes which back Portstewart Strand in Northern Ireland (parts of which have been incorporated into the local golf course), I heard a woman shouting: “Get away, you bold fellow!”
It was a fox, apparently fascinated by this solitary golfer’s putting skills.
Later, I heard that a sizable stash of stolen golf balls had been discovered in its den. Patrick Miller
