Shark bait

Gannets feasting on sardines off South Africa’s Wild Coast are forced to think twice as a shark bursts through the middle of the shoal.

The ‘bait balls’ occur during the annual sardine run, when shoals over four miles long spawn on Africa’s southern tip and move up its eastern coast to warmer waters.
