Putting their heart into it
Volunteers yesterday made a heart shape out of discarded plastic bottles ahead of Valentine’s Day during a clear-up on the Thames at the old Queenhithe dock. Thames21, the environmental voice for London’s waterways, which works with communities to improve rivers and canals for people and wildlife, estimates its volunteers have collected more than 23,000 single-use plastic bottles, 40 per cent of which are water containers.
