New York Fashion Week report
Mellow yellow, decadence dressing and faux fur buys
No matter how much I try to concentrate on the clothes, it can be all the extra trinkets that steal my attention. I was transfixed by the use of butterfly clips in the models’ hair at Alexander Wang and whether they could ever really be rehabilitated from their almost-aslowly-as-a-scrunchie status as a practical lazy day hair solution. At 3.1 Phillip Lim, the jangle of shell necklaces and the organic look of the matching earrings held as much appeal as the eclecticism of the clothes. And Oscar de la Renta was a costume jewellery addict’s paradise with its oversized teardrop pearls, giant diamanté spray brooches used as coat clasps and mismatched bird and serpent earrings.
