Maldives president boosted by U-turn

The Maldives’ top court suspended 12 proopposition legislators before a parliamentary vote on the state of emergency declared by Abdulla Yameen, the president, restoring his majority.

The supreme court reversed its original order to reinstate the MPS, who had defected from the ruling party.
