Theresa May yesterday embraced Tessa Jowell during a meeting in Downing Street to discuss plans to improve care for people with brain cancer. Baroness Jowell, the former Labour culture secretary, suffers from the disease and spoke of her happiness at the “huge progress” that will be made by a £45million fund for brain tumour research, announced yesterday. She received a standing ovation in the Lords earlier this year after a moving speech about her illness while calling for more help for sufferers.
