‘Who is straighter’ row led to knife murder
A ROW on social media over which of two men was “the least gay” ended with one stabbing the other to death, a court heard.
Paul Akinnuoye, 20, arranged to “have it out” with Jordan Wright, 19, after a petty argument” about who was the “straighter” of the two. The pair fought at a park in Blackheath, southeast London, last April.
Witnesses saw Mr Wright stumble and collapse after he was stabbed several times. Tony Badenoch QC, prosecuting, said Akinnuoye and Mr Wright were members of a Whatsapp group called Ice City Boys.
Mr Wright called Akinnuoye a “batty boy”, to which he replied: “On your mum’s life, I’m straighter than you.”
They had suggested places to meet for a fight before settling on the park.
Akinnuoye, of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, denied murder but a jury at the Old Bailey found him guilty. He will be sentenced at a later date.
