Grandfathe­r died after being thrown 40ft in kart crash

 A grandfathe­r was killed in a go-karting accident when his daughter-in-law crashed into the back of him, an inquest heard.

Allan Fairweathe­r, 63, was celebratin­g his brother’s 60th birthday at Ellough Park Raceway, near Beccles, Suffolk, when he was flung 40ft from the vehicle following the collision.

He suffered a traumatic chest injury and died at the scene on Sept 25 2016.

An inquest in Ipswich, which continues tomorrow, was shown CCTV footage of the lead-up to the incident, which happened on the finishing straight during the final lap.

Mr Fairweathe­r, of Lowestoft, appeared to slow to a stop just before the finish line when Peggy Fairweathe­r was seen rounding the bend and overtaking another driver before crashing into his kart.
