Grandfather died after being thrown 40ft in kart crash
A grandfather was killed in a go-karting accident when his daughter-in-law crashed into the back of him, an inquest heard.
Allan Fairweather, 63, was celebrating his brother’s 60th birthday at Ellough Park Raceway, near Beccles, Suffolk, when he was flung 40ft from the vehicle following the collision.
He suffered a traumatic chest injury and died at the scene on Sept 25 2016.
An inquest in Ipswich, which continues tomorrow, was shown CCTV footage of the lead-up to the incident, which happened on the finishing straight during the final lap.
Mr Fairweather, of Lowestoft, appeared to slow to a stop just before the finish line when Peggy Fairweather was seen rounding the bend and overtaking another driver before crashing into his kart.
