Classy TV presenter

SIR – Steph Mcgovern may or may not be right that the BBC has discriminated against her (Comment, February 27). However, if it has done so, it is not on the basis of her class.

Class is not inherited, whatever the romantics of the Left would have us believe. Class is a socio-economic construct. It is unique to each individual and determined by their economic function.

What Miss Mcgovern is referring to is her background.
