Lecturers threaten strike in exams term
LECTURERS have threatened to go on strike for another 14 days during the summer exams term, if the dispute over pensions remains unsolved.
The University and College Union, which represents academic and campus staff, announced last night that 65 institutions face a second wave of strikes in April and June. The union said it would gather information about the most effective tactics during the current wave of strikes, and prepare to re-deploy them during a second round.
Sally Hunt, the general secretary at UCU, said: “I want to stress that I consider all this a necessary precaution against the failure of talks to deliver an acceptable settlement.”
